University Trip

For project week, the last week of year 12, I have just gone on a trip to the South Coast of England. On this trip I looked at 5 University’s. We looked at Portsmouth, Winchester, Chicester, Brighton and Sussex. I found this trip very worth while, I was able to improve my communication skills, improve on my independence and I feel like I also got a better understanding of what university is like.

Prior to this trip I was unsure of whether or not I wanted to attend a University after my time at Sixth Form. This trip is going to allow me to make a more informed decision and the information gained has been very helpful. When looking at the University’s we had talks from current students as well as lecturers. I was also able to get a better understanding of what the main differences of campus and city university’s are. I have decided that I would rather a campus based university experience. This is because I will be able to become more independent whilst feeling safer and get more comfortable with living away from home as accommodation and lectures are all in the same area.

I have not only been able to see what university’s are like but also get a lot more information about the courses that I would be interested in which has allowed me to see just how helpful a degree in media production would be for me.

When on the trip we had tours of all campus’ of university’s visited as well as the talks and staying in halls of residence in Winchester, Chicester and Brighton. This was really good as I was able to get a real feel of what it is like to be at university, although there wasn’t students on campus due to the time of year.
