BBC Radio Leicester | Fresh Air

Over the past year I have had the opportunity to become a freelance presenter on BBC Radio Leicester. Fresh Air is a show which is presented by students on a monthly rotation. I would present every four months with Alice Arnold.

Each week we would prepare subjects to talk about such as the difficulties of university, our clumsy ways of falling off chairs in the middle of the office and the top trends of the week. We would choose music from the allotted category, that would fit well with the particular show. Alongside this we would include up to four songs from BBC Introducing. This was one of my favourite parts of the show as I love hearing all of the new talent and finding out more about upcoming local bands. A few artists even made it into my current playlist, including Sea Girls and Jake Warner.

Alice and I would plan the show together over the week leading up to our Monday evening slot. We would also drive the desk for our own show. We took this role two weeks at a time so we could both gain the experience. It was quite difficult at first but after a few hours practice we soon got the hang of it and would loved to have been able to carry on the show however there were programming changes made my the head offices.
